Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, announces that Instagram is, "no longer a photo sharing app" and sends shock waves through the Instagram influencer/creator community. The announcement focused on the pivot from photo to video, creators, messaging, and shopping. We discuss the initial reaction from users on Twitter. We reminisce about why we loved Myspace. Where will photo content creators go? Pinterest? VSCO? Vero? Will creators create content for Instagram with the new financial incentives Instagram is putting in place? Or will their history of replicating features from other social media apps such as Snapchat stories, Reels from TikTok etc make users continue to churn from Instagram? New creators on TikTok are starting brands much earlier than their Instagram influencer counterparts, while others like Tinx (@tinx) are holding off.
